Do we have the right Attitude when we Witness?

Galatians 5:22-23 says But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.  We must display the Fruits of the Spirit in the ways we witness.  We must be positive and friendly. Luke 6:35 says But love your enemies, do good to them and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.  Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. The person you talk with will be more positive to you if you treat them kindly.  Let them see that you want to talk with him/her because you love their soul and desire their salvation.

We must speak the truth.  The Holy Spirit will work in you to convict them of sin and lead them to righteousness. We must be gentle and respectful.  1 Peter 3:15 says But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect.

If you have the right attitude, you will never turn anyone off.  You will draw them to God, not drive them away.

God at Work through Mt. Zion – A Year in Review

†        In July a large group of youth and adults spent a week as a part

of the Appalachia Service Project, repairing homes of families in

      need.

†        In mid August Mt. Zion collected school supplies and back packs for the elementary schools in our community.

†        During Thanksgiving we helped 10 local families and 10 senior citizens with their Thanksgiving meals through the Holiday Sharing program.  We collected an abundance of food and monetary donations that purchased grocery store gift certificates.

†        Operation Christmas Child, the Shoe Box ministry through Samaritan’s Purse.  We collected over 150 boxes to be distributed around the world.

†        Through Mt. Zion’s Angel Tree, sponsored by Prison Ministries, ten children received gifts for Christmas from their parent in prison.

Praise the Lord for all that He has done through Mt. Zion this year.  What does the Bible say about generosity and giving to those in need?

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-10)

Each of us has something to offer to someone in need. We can give our money and our time to charity, be a friend to someone who is sick or lonely, do volunteer work, or be a peacemaker. We may give unselfishly of our time to our spouse, children or parents. We may choose a service-oriented occupation, or we may just do our everyday jobs with integrity and respect for others.

Please pray for what God will have us do for Him in 2008.
