Winter Coat Drive
It's that time of year to start thinking about coats! (It'll be cold in no time!) There are many children in Southern Anne Arundel County that cannot afford proper winter coats to keep them safe during the winter months!
Matthew 19:14 says "But Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.'"
Each coat costs about $20. Last year, we purchased 334 coats, which cost about $7,000. This year our goal is $7,500. Any contribution to this important outreach for our community is welcomed and appreciated.
You can donate through Pushpay here. Under giving type, select Coat Drive. We will purchase the coats in mid-October.
Thank you for your support!!
MZUMC helps provide winter coats for elementary students in need at Deale Elementary School, Lothian Elementary School, Shady Side Elementary School, and Tracy's Landing Elementary School. The Youth Group helps to raise funds and support this ministry by spending a night sleeping outside in cardboard boxes to experience what it's like to be homeless. The next morning they collect donations from the MZUMC congregation. Paired with each coat is a handmade hat and scarf made lovingly by the ladies of the MZUMC Knit Wits Group. The coats are prayed over during a special Sunday worship before they are delivered to the schools and handed out to the children.
