Dear Mt. Zion family,

We are thrilled that so many of you joined us in our Livestream last Sunday and look forward to worshipping with you again this week in this innovative way. Please see this Sunday’s scripture and sermon title at the end of this letter. We acknowledged some issues and are working to have them fixed. We appreciate you viewing the service together with your family and even sending the link to friends and family who do not attend or who do not have a church. This may be a convenient way to outreach as we continue to intentionally spread the message of hope in Jesus Christ.

The world is continuing to deal with this Coronavirus and adjustments are made on a daily and weekly basis. This applies to the church as well. Due to the governor’s recent mandates, our bishop’s official position, and our desire to keep everyone safe, we will continue the closure of the church until at least April 26th.

This is a very difficult decision, not in light of public safety, but in light of spiritual needs as this means we will miss Holy Week and Easter this year. However, it is our intention to hold a special celebration of Easter when we can pull out all the stops and celebrate right once everyone can again assemble in the building. This may not be until May, or June, or some other time; but, whenever it is, we will celebrate with earnest the Risen Savior who died to save us from our sins and resurrected to prove eternal life is a reality. We look forward to that day, and hope you will also. Once we have clear communication as to when that can happen, we will begin the plans in earnest.

In the meantime, that means that all of our prior Easter and Holy Week celebrations have to be postponed. We will be posting an abridged Maundy Thursday service online and we will still have a livestream celebration on Easter, but it is not the grandiose celebration we plan on having when we can meet together. Also, we have begun using technology in new ways. Jenn is posting a weekly kids message live on Friday nights at 7pm on our Facebook page and we have begun using Zoom for confirmation class.

We may begin using it for other Bible Studies and communication to help us stay connected while we stay apart. With that said, we have limited hours in the building and are working from home. Therefore, connecting with us is best done via email or by calling my cell.

Please know that we continue to pray for you, love you and care for you as we work for Jesus Christ in whatever way we may. To that end, we will be including our prayer list in our weekly email blast. If you should wish to add something to the prayer list, please email Christi at

We also encourage you to continue to support the church as the ministries such as VBS, Breakfast Club, Youth Group, ASP, etc. will still be happening and will still need your support as do the regular ministries of the church. Here is the way to contribute online with us or you can mail your check directly to the church. Download the Pushpay app  for your iPhone or Android or Text MZUMC to 77977. You can also go to and click on the giving link from there.

While the world is still trying to figure out what to do and who to trust, I encourage you to not lose hope and be certain in who to trust. As Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

God is still in control, Jesus is still on the throne, and we are still promised eternity. Hallelujah. Amen.

Worshipping with you,

Pastor Hayden
