Appalachia Service Project

We are in the early stages of planning our trip to ASP in 2022 and would like your input!

We are looking at the week of July 16-23 as our first choice and the week of July 2-9 as our second choice.

Please contact Joe Harrison at at your earliest convenience if you are interested in attending or want to learn more about the program.

The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) was founded in 1969 by Rev. Glenn “Tex” Evans. This non-profit Christian ministry works year-round to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families in need while building relationships among families, volunteers and staff. ASP offers opportunities for youth programs in the summer months as well as year-round volunteer opportunities at centers in Kentucky,

Virginia and West Virginia.

Every year in May we hold a fundraiser golf tournament to support mission trips to Appalachia. MZUMC has been sending teams of youth and adults to Appalachia since 1991. Proceeds from the tournament are a major source of funds that make this trip possible. It will cover room and board, travel expenses and the cost of supplies need for the repairs we do.
